Taking a bus from Kula Lumpur to Butterworth, then Ferry to Penang

It costs less to take a four and a half bus ride in Malaysia, than it is in Goa to take a forty-five minute taxi drive from the airport to Candolim. A bus ticket from Kula Lumpur to Butterworth will cost you £7:50 (750 Rupees) with Transnasional.

Buy your ticket from Puduraya bus station in KL.
You can take a direct bus to Penang; however, we have never done this so you must ask about transfers from Penang bus station to your hotel, when you book your ticket in KL.
When you buy your ticket, you can also choose your seat.

Arrive 15 minutes before your bus leaves to allow you enough time to get your baggage down to the right platform.

The buses are very clean and comfy, with large

reclining seats.

Half way through the journey, there will be one stop at a petrol station or service station for a short break to allow you to use the toilets and grab a snack to eat on the bus, or just to stretch your legs.
The buses are air conditioned so I advise you pack a lightweight coat or cardigan as sometimes it can get a little cold.

Arriving in Butterworth, the ferry point to Penang is right there.  Tickets  costs 20p (0.20 Rupees) it takes around fifteen to twenty minutes.
After disembarking from the ferry, you can take a taxi to your hotel.
