4/5 Review – Restoran Kassim Mustafa Penang Malaysia

Although the surroundings are not plush, the food more than makes up for this.  Tasty good- sized portions, and certainly value for your money.

This meal for two cost us 25 RM (£4.50/ $7.00/ 450 rupees)
2 Tandoori Chicken, 3 chapattis, side or of green vegetables, Chicken curry and 1Litre water.

Tandoori Chicken – This is a great favourite for MR R and myself, and I have to say we both agreed the best we have ever tasted.  This dish ticked all of our boxes when looking for the perfect tandoori chicken.  Spicy crust and perfectly burnt for that smoky flavour on the outside. Inside the chicken was tender and juicy. The additional extra of the sweet chilli sauce, yoghurt and mint, vegetable curry sauce, onions and lime, really made a good meal excellent.

Chicken Curry -  I love Malaysian/Indian curry. When you ask for chicken you don’t get farty bits of chicken you have to search for in the gravy, you get a huge chicken thigh.

Even though the sauce is not thick, because it is left cooking in the curry sauce it soaks into the chicken so each mouth full is juicy and full of flavour and just falls off the bone.

Would I go back?
I would. Although it was a cheap and cheerful café, the food was very good, and this shows when you pass at peak times such as breakfast and lunch when locals flock here. I would suggest for a more pleasant relaxed meal to go at slack times.
There is no waiter service, you go to the counter and chose your own food. Take it back to your table and a waiter will then write you a bill and take a drinks order.

In conclusion, great food, cheap and clean, what more could you ask for.
