Review of K.F.C Calangute Goa – 1/5 Stars

Their flyer says, KFC Wow! I don’t think so.
It is such a shame because the actual restaurant is very nicely set out, and in a prime spot next to the Grand Hotel in Calangute.  However, I did have some hygiene issues.

We arrived at mid-day to find we were the only people in the place. Which was rather a shock, as in the KFC’s in Malaysia at this time you would know that you would be waiting at least ten minutes in a queue before being served.

Our server Aruna, was polite and friendly, and served us quickly and efficiently, at the end of payment she informed us our meal would take 7-10 minutes.
Okay, I can understand that, no one else there, so at least our food will be fresh and hot. Think again.
What we ordered from images on the menu

What we actually got!

OMG Burger - 49 Rupees   Plus 20% VAT and 5% Service Tax
An omelette, molten cheese, and golden brown hash brown.
I can see why they call it OMG because that is what I said when I saw it. Inside was a mushy, unattractive lump of what I thought was mash potato, was in fact the omelette. Molten cheese!!!! A cheese slice not even melted. The hash brown was just warm.
Cheese Crunch Burger – 75 Rupees   Plus 20% VAT and 5% Service Tax
Well there was a crunch there, but I could not taste the cheese as it was smothered in some hot, chilly mayonnaise, that overpowered the burger, and cold.  The image on the menu shows a burger, cheeseburger then lettuce, cheese and onion. We had one burger, no lettuce or just thick chunks of onion.
Chicken Rockin – 79 Rupees Plus 20% VAT and 5% Service Tax
Probably the best one we had, although still no lettuce but the chicken was tasty even though it was not a burger, but looked like they had used the popcorn chicken.
Fries cold tasted like yesterdays heated up. 50 Rupees  Plus 20% VAT and 5% Service Tax
We did not have a drink, they only sell soft drinks, no tea or coffee, and diet coke comes in a small can you have to pay 5 rupees extra.
Toilets are up stairs which I found poor for anyone who had trouble walking or mothers with young children, and no changing facilities in there either.
I did not like the fact that both men and woman’s toilets were in the same confined space. This is where I had my hygiene issue. Although the toilets themselves were cleanish, the sinks were stained and dirty. Mirrors needed a good clean and there was no toilet paper, hand towels or a working hand dryer, and no soap in the dispenser. The hand dryer, towel and soap dispenser all needed to be cleaned and fixed properly to the wall.

Would I go back? NO!

KFC Gets 1/5 Red Hot Chillies, only because of the server.
