3/5 Review for Mall De Goa

Today MR R and I went to Mall De Goa in Porvorim – Goa.  Was I impressed?  Well… let’s just say I am used to the shopping malls in Malaysia so it didn’t come a big shock to me that all the hype was over-rated.  Having said that first impressions I was impressed.  However, finding there was only two stores that appealed to me my enthusiasm diminished.

We arrived at 10:30am the only store open at that time was Big Bazaar.  By the time we left at mid-day less than half the shops were open.

My first stop was to the ladies toilets on the ground floor. Lordy lord how will they cope if this place was rammed?  Four toilets and two out of order. Inside the cubical, the toilet cleanliness was just passable.   I certainly was not impressed with the storage of their cleaning equipment!  Health and safety well out of the window here.  One little hand dryer, not even paper towels. The hand wash area was awash with water, and it didn’t smell fresh, more like stale dirty water.

Next to the food Hall.  Now on the official website for Mall De Goa they say fine dining! I think not, cafeteria would be a more apt description.  At first, I wasn’t sure if it was actually open, due to work being carried out, but then as I looked around I could see people setting up in the kiosks.  This really didn’t appeal to me at all, I could envisage on a weekend full of kids /families shopping or going to the Imax this place would be a hell whole.

Big Bazaar, well now we are talking a fabulous store. Clothes, well… take a miss on that one for me and MR R.  However, the household department and the food section is just what Goa needs.  Well spaced out and clean.  Everything well presented and priced.
MR R and I spent a good hour in here filling our trolley with bargains. The only fault I could see here was that the checkout was at the back of the store.

Marks and Spencer’s. How long have I been waiting for this store, and not badly priced too. I could have been in the Uk or Malaysia when in this store.

Big Bazaar and M&S will certainly be a regular visit for MR R and I on our shopping days.
There is underground parking but this costs 30 Rupees/ 0.003 Pence / 0.004 cents / 0.29 Rouble/ 0.004 Euro
