Throughout its history, Melaka has seen the Portuguese,
British, Japanese and the Dutch, all putting their own touch into the second
smallest state in Malaysia.
The government’s commitment to the preservation of
historical legacy and heritage, finally declared Melaka a World Heritage City
by UNESCO in 2008.
What did MR R and I think of Melaka?
Actually, we were disappointed; a day trip is all you
would need. We loved the walks along the
canal, and we loved walking the back streets.
However, Jonker’s Walk was nothing like, we had imagined, just one busy
street of tourist holiday shops. We
could have been in Skegness, South End or Blackpool. There
is a city centre with shopping malls, but when you have KL, why do you need to
look more.
It takes two hours by coach - A return ticket costs- RM 25 (£5.00 / 500
Rupees)
