BABAJI Fine Art Gallery Calangute

For a while now Mr R and I when walking down Calangute Beach Road, have always stopped to admire the paintings at Babaji Art gallery.

This Monday while walking towards the beach, we found Babaji open after a break for the monsoon.  Popping in to say hello, just to look at new paintings, we fell instantly in love with three of them, and could not leave without buying them.

I think you will agree we picked well, the colours and textures when you see them for real are amazing.

Prices are very reasonable for these one off pieces of fine art.  If you wish they will frame them too, which takes a couple of days, but the finished effect brilliant.

If you ever find yourself walking down Calangute Beach Road then it is a must you stop and take a look at this small gallery, I can assure you, that before you leave you will be tempted to buy at least one painting, as a souvenir from your holiday in Goa.

The Plantain Leaf, on Calangute busy Main Street, Goa serves Southern and Northern Indian food.

The other day MR R and I went for a steady walk to Calangute.  Lunchtime was coming up so we pondered on our options.

Would it be a fruit plate or roasted sweet corn from a street vendor?

Finally, we agreed on The Plantain Leaf, on Calangute busy Main Street, serves Southern and Northern Indian food.

We only wanted a snack, so we chose Puri Bhaji, samosa and potato Wada.

For one serving or plate, you got 2 Samosa and 2 potato wada.
Larger than usually been served in a restaurant, with a thin layer of pastry and packed full of a great tasty filling of vegetables and pulses.  Normally I find them to be too heavy on the pastry and just potato, a couple of peas if you are lucky.

The Bhaji was again not lacking in content, nice and spicy, just how I like it.  The puri’s were not at all greasy.

Although the restaurant was not busy, it was immaculately clean. Cutlery and dishes all gleamed, and the menu was sparking not sticky and tatty (my pet hate.) paper napkins were already on the table in abundance, and my other pet hate, drinking glasses.  These were clean and smelt fresh.
The young boy who served us was polite, no hovering, but did a check back half way through eating, and then asked if we would like coffee after.
From my seat, I could see the kitchen that looked immaculately clean, as did all the chefs who wore chef uniforms and hats.

Will I be going back?  Yes, and try a main meal.

I would like to give The Plantain Leaf 4/5 Red Chillies
